Volunteer of the Month, July 2010- Larry Espel
Congratulations to Larry Espel, CLC’s July 2010 Volunteer of the Month
Larry Espel founded Greene Espel in 1993. Larry serves as lead counsel in many high-stakes, complex disputes. His well-reputed practice includes federal and state litigation in Minnesota and throughout the country. It has involved class actions and multi-district lawsuits, arbitration, and administrative proceedings to resolve commercial, environmental, construction, products liability, and telecommunications disputes. He is an experienced mediator and arbitrator. Larry has published articles and lectures in the fields of contracts, construction law, environmental litigation, and products liability.
Children’s Law Center of Minnesota (CLC) is recognizing Larry for his extraordinary commitment to foster children in need of representation. Larry has been a dedicated volunteer attorney with CLC since the fall of 2000. He has represented 17 CLC clients in both Hennepin and Ramsey counties as well as outside the metro area. Two examples of Larry’s dedication to his clients are as follows: First, CLC was contacted by a child in a southern Minnesota county close to the Iowa border in need of counsel. CLC does not presently have the capacity to provide consistent representation to counties outside the Metro area. However, without hesitation, Larry agreed to represent the child. This case involved great distance and time. Another example, one of Larry’s clients who had been dismissed from court jurisdiction, recently reentered the system and without pause Larry agreed to pick up his representation again as well as his client’s younger sibling. For these reasons, CLC is lucky and proud to have Larry Espel as its July Volunteer of the Month! Thank you Larry!
