Jessica is a relatively new volunteer attorney with CLC. In 2011, along with several other Medtronic Attorneys, Jessica became involved with CLC. Jessica currently represents an older foster care youth and her representation of this youth has been outstanding.

Wendy is a long standing CLC volunteer. She completed her training in 1997 and took her first case in 1998. She usually takes children with significant development disabilities and special needs. Given her clients’ significant needs, Wendy ensures that she has all her clients relevant assessments and case information, she connects with their special education teachers and resources and uses developmentally appropriate language to ensure her clients understand her role. She has represented 20 CLC clients and currently has three.

Joseph Cassioppi, of Fredrikson & Byron is CLC’s February Volunteer of the Month. Joe has gone above and beyond for a client that needed help to avoid outcomes that could have impacted his future for many years. Because he had Joe as his attorney, his client faces a brighter and healthier future.

Nancy Coyle Strahan and Kathleen Berdan attended CLC’s training session in June 2000. As new attorneys they were not familiar with the child protection system and laws and both stated that they were a little intimidated about representing foster care children. Nancy and Kathleen were the first volunteers to co-represent CLC clients and have co-represented several very difficult cases. They have spent an estimated 3,000 hours on their clients since 2000.

When considering our Volunteer of the Month selection for September, one name stood out: Pete Hendrixson. Pete’s incredible recent efforts on behalf of one very special client, in addition to his many years of commitment to CLC, made this pick an easy one. Pete Hendrixson has been a volunteer attorney for CLC since 1998. He served on CLC’s Board of Directors from 2003 through 2008, including one term as President.

CLC is pleased to name Jody Alholinna as its Volunteer of the Month! Jody has been a friend of CLC since it was founded. She was one of many individuals who helped CLC prepare for its opening in 1995, and she has been a longstanding supporter ever since. She has served on the CLC Board of Directors, has provided considerable behind-the-scenes help to the Board over the years, and has represented eight CLC clients.

Congratulations to Ann Marie Hanrahan, Children’s Law Center of Minnesota (CLC)’s Volunteer of the Month. Ann Marie is Associate General Counsel at 3M, and has been a volunteer attorney for CLC since 2004. In that time she has represented a total of seven foster clients for CLC. In all of her work, Ann Marie has shown exceptional dedication to her clients and unfailing willingness to fight for their rights.
