At Children’s Law Center of Minnesota (CLC), our commitment to advancing the rights and well-being of children and youth extends beyond the courtroom. Through our public policy and advocacy efforts, we work to drive systemic change, promote policies that protect and empower young people in foster care, and amplify the voices of those we serve. We engage with coalitions and committees at both the local and national levels, contribute to legislative initiatives, and collaborate on amicus briefs that support the interests of vulnerable youth. On this page, you’ll find an overview of our advocacy priorities, updates on key legislative developments, and more.
One of CLC’s core purposes is to assist in the development of public policy in the legal, administrative, and judicial settings.
Committees: CLC primarily participates in the formulation of public policy by positioning CLC staff to serve on relevant external committees and work groups. CLC staff currently serve on, or participate in, over 15 external committees and organizations.
Legislation: CLC follows legislation that affects our clients and our ability to serve them. We provide Legislative Updates to our volunteer attorneys, along with important practice points, so our volunteer attorneys are current on the legal changes affecting children and youth in foster care.
