Wednesday, August 8, 2018, Children’s Law Center of Minnesota had the honor of participating in the Simon Says Give official Guinness World Records – High Five for Supplies backpack event at the Mall of America. The volunteers stuffed over 8,000 backpacks with school supplies for children in need in record time. Not only was CLC staff part of the 1,000 community volunteers, our clients will be the recipients of some of the stuffed bags – just in time for back to school. In fact, the first four were already delivered. It was a fun, inspirational day for everyone.
Many CLC staff and our own children were there to help set up before the event, assist with various duties during the event, and help with the distribution and pick-up of the backpacks.
An official adjudicator from Guinness World Records was present to monitor and certify the record. Our executive director, Lilia Panteleeva, had a chance to talk to her about CLC and its clients who will benefit from this amazing event. It was an incredible way to bring our community together and help children in need, including CLC clients.
