Children’s Law Center Report on Client Outcomes for FY 2010 and 2009

5.21.2012
The Report on FY 2009 Client Outcomes analysis is based on a random sample of forty-one (25%) of the cases closed by CLC in 2009. The report covers a statistical analysis of sampled client demographics, representation, experience, problems, placements, and permanency and education outcomes. The report shows that foster youth with CLC attorneys had fewer foster home placements after they got their attorney, and that 93% of clients sampled achieved positive permanency outcomes.

Legislative Update

4.23.2010
We did it! On April 22, 2010, Senate File 2690/House File 3039 was signed into law. CLC has been actively supporting this bill, which contains specific policy changes that will benefit foster care youth and improve the child welfare system. Among its provisions, it clarifies that reviews of foster care matters must be held in court, so that children have an opportunity to participate, and it extends court jurisdiction over foster care cases up to age 21 for youth that choose to stay in foster care.
