CLC wishes to honor David Wilson and his team at the Wilson Law Group for their exceptional work for our clients.
David Wilson is an immigration attorney who has assisted CLC clients since 2010 and his work has been vital to our clients. David graduated with cum laude honors from both the University of St. Thomas and William Mitchell College of Law. He is licensed to practice in the State of Minnesota, the U.S. District Court of Minnesota, the Eight Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
One example of David and his team’s work is when David, Cassondre Buteyn and the rest of the Wilson Law Group provided invaluable assistance in obtaining permanent resident status for CLC client A.S. CLC petitioned the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) on A.S.’s behalf, and the Wilson Law Group handled the filing and represented A.S. at the interview held to determine his eligibility. SIJS status is available to minors who are in the custody of the county and have been abandoned by one or both parents. The local USCIS office does not see a significant number of SIJS filings, and as a result issued a Notice of Intent to Deny A.S.’s petition. The Wilson Law Group responded, directing the Service to applicable law. David and his firm also prompted the Service to meet its deadline for decision on this matter.
On September 12, 2012, A.S. was granted permanent resident status, largely thanks to the legal expertise and hard work of David and his colleagues at the Wilson Law Group as well as A.S.’s CLC volunteer attorney Betsy Schmiesing.
CLC is privileged and honored to have David and his firm on our team. Thank you David!
